Meet The Invision Eye Doctors & Staff
The Invision team has 5 optometrists, state licensed opticians and excellent support staff between our two locations.
We also work closely with local ophthalmologists to provide everything you need in an eye center. With such a large and flexible staff, we’re able to provide care 6 days a week– truly offering the ultimate in convenience to our patients. We also stay open during the lunch time hour, adding additional flexibility for appointment options.
We’re dedicated to individualized and personal care for our patients, no matter our size! We encourage you to take a moment to get to know our team of doctors.
Dr. Becky Mann
Radford native “Dr. Becky” is popular with children and adults of all ages. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) after graduating with honors from James Madison University. Dr. Becky is one of only 3 optometrists in southwest Virginia certified as a low-vision examiner by Virginia Department of Visually Impaired.
She has a special interest in children’s vision, specialty contact lenses, retinal pathology and sub-normal vision. She is member of the American Optometric Association, Virginia Optometric Association and local Southwest VA Optometric Society. Dr. Becky volunteers vision care both locally and in the Puerto Cabezas Orphanage in Nicaragua.
Dr. Scott Mann
Dr. Scott Mann received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama -Birmingham (UAB) after graduating with honors from the University of Lynchburg. An avid sports fan, he played basketball in college then served as team eye doctor for Radford University athletics for 10 years. He has also served as one of the Salem Red Sox team eye doctors along with Invision’s Dr. Gudeman.
Dr. Scott has given guest lectures for years at Radford University and Roanoke College to athletic trainers (sports related eye injuries) and to nurse practitioners at Radford University (treatment and management of eye emergencies). He is a past president of the local Southwest VA Optometric Society and a member of the prestigious VA Academy of Optometry. Dr Mann has served as a federal legislative Key Person in Washington DC for the American Optometric Association. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Optometric Association. He has 3 sons with Dr. Becky Mann. Like Dr. Becky, Dr. Scott is active in his church, community volunteer work and medical missions trips to Colombia and Nicaragua.
Dr. Jon Gudeman
Dr. Jon Gudeman is originally from Illinois and Western New York State, but after spending all those winters buried in the snow, he was happy to move a bit further south. He moved to the Roanoke Valley shortly after receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University in 1996.
He has served as one of the Salem Red Sox team eye doctors along with Dr Mann, and also enjoys giving guest lectures at Roanoke College to athletic trainers (sports related eye injuries). He is a past president of the local Southwest VA Optometric Society, a member of the VA Optometric Association and active member of the American Optometric Association. His areas of interest include ocular disease management, children’s vision, and contact lens fitting. He especially enjoys a challenging contact lens fit.
Dr. Gudeman has also had the opportunity to participate on a number of mission trips. He has traveled to Sudan, Congo, The Philippines, India, Kashmir, and Yemen. He has found each trip to be rewarding, helping to restore clear vision to populations who have no access to medical or vision care, and plans to continue traveling regularly.
Dr. Tim Poling
Dr Tim Poling is a long time friend of the doctors at Invision. His primary focus is researching new contact lens and spectacle lens technology. Between his patient studies for major eye care corporations has a regularly scheduled days at our Christiansburg Location and helps us in Salem as well. Our patients and staff love Dr Poling! Dr. Katelyn Palmer
A native of Missouri, Dr. Katelyn Palmer received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. She has completed clinical rotations at The Eye Center in Memphis, TN, Blue Ridge Eye Associates in Lexington, VA, and James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. Dr. Palmer has a special interest in pediatrics and ocular disease management.
Dr. Palmer is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Optometric Association, and the local Southwest Virginia Optometric Association. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and traveling. Some of her favorite Virginia adventures include exploring Grayson Highlands State Park and biking the Virginia Creeper trail.
